Fiat Auto on Monday confirmed it would be bringing a convertible version of its new 500 to market.Some news can always be anticipated, but formal confirmations of new products always have a bigger impact. This applies to the convertible version of Fiat 500, confirmed to Just-Auto.com by the Styling Director of Fiat himself, Roberto Giolito, during the Automotive News Europe Congress. One year ago, we have already spoken about a topless version of the small Italian, as well as a bigger version of it, the Giardinera, a station wagon for Fiat to face the Mini Clubman.
Besides making the launch of the car almost official (we will have to wait for a press release in order to consider the 500 Cabrio more than a sure thing), Giolito also stated, according to Just-Auto.com, that the new version of the 500 will have a fabric top, instead of the foldable hard tops that are becoming increasingly popular. Although it was more than expected, due to the small dimensions of the car, but fabric tops are also said to have been considerably improved. If this charming future convertible manages to be as silent and well built as its hardtop version, success is sure to be in its way, whether the top is on or off.
