Also, the exhaust pipes are now placed in the right position and not on the car’s side as in the concept versions.<br /><br />Power comes from a 570hp 4.6 liter V8 mated to a 200hp electric motor, the engine will be backed up by two electric motors which are rumored to have a combined output of 245 hp (183 kW). In contrast to its 58.6-pound counterpart with a sandcast aluminum housing, the carbon-fiber torque tube weighs just 29.3 pounds. As before, a CFRP drive shaft weighing just 10.4 pounds handles power transmission between the engine and dual-clutch transmission (transaxle principle), which is flange-mounted on the rear axle. With recent upgrades, the M838T-designated unit now delivers 616 hp arriving at 7,500 rpm. Torque peaks at 442 lb-ft between 3,000 rpm and 7,000 rpm. <br /><span class="fullpost"><br />In the 0-100km/h sprint, the McLaren MP4-12C is claimed to reach the chequered flag at the same time as the fixed-roof version but ahead of the rival Ferrari 458 Italia Spider – 3.1 seconds versus 3.4.<br /><br />The 12C Spider is equipped with a Unique Retractable Hard Top (RHT) that operates at speeds up to 19 mph (30 km/h). McLaren asserts the carbon MonoCell body structure is identical to the 12C coupe.<br /><br />The car comes equipped with Brake Steer, ProActive Chassis Control and McLaren’s own Airbrake. The Spider also features a passive Roll Over Protection System to maximise safety in addition to the steel buttress that absorbs impact energy, which protects driver and passenger.<br /><br />Inside there’s plenty of semi-aniline perforated leather and Alcantara, along with a big in-dash LCD display, together with custom luggage that comes as standard. In 1981 McLaren gave a debut to a carbon fibre monocoque chassis in Formula 1 with the launch of the MP4/1 race car, and in 1992 the legendary McLaren F1 introduced the advanced composite technology to the world of road cars. It was natural then for McLaren Automotive engineers to apply its carbon expertise when developing the groundbreaking one-piece moulded chassis of the 12C. With the 12C designed originally as a convertible, its 75kg ‘MonoCell' requires no additional strengthening for it to feature in the 12C Spider. The result is a sports car almost identical to its fixed roof equivalent in performance terms, and weighing only 40kg more with the addition of a convertible roof system.</i><br /><i></i><br /><i>The Retractable Hard Top of the 12C Spider is operated using a switch in the lower section of the centre console inside the cabin, taking less than 17 seconds to raise or lower. Unlike many other convertible models, the roof can be operated whilst the 12C Spider is moving at speeds of up to 30 kph (19mph).</i><br /><i></i><br /><i>Behind driver and passenger sits a rear windscreen which may also be electronically lowered and raised. Although production was promised to be limited to just 350 units, Jaguar took deposits for 1,500 cars, which was then pared back to the originally promised limit.<br /><br />The standard XJ220 had a body built of aluminum. TWR modified nine of these cars; three examples were transformed into the XJ220C to compete in GT racing, while the other six were designated as XJ220S. The XJ220S model, like this example, was comprised of five "standard" units and one additional "modified" version. They were produced as road-going cars built to comply with homologation requirements.<br /><br />The Walkinshaw-built Jaguars were stripped of their aluminum body, save for the door skins. The original panels were replaced with carbon fiber and the XJ220Ss were also given a front splitter, wider sills and an adjustable rear spoiler. The additional body kit produced an even more menacing stance than that of the production XJ220. The carbon-fiber panels helped reduce the curb weight to a lithe 2,379 pounds, impressive for an 18-foot long Jaguar. The twin-turbo V-6 powerplant was overhauled to produce a whopping 680 horsepower and over 526 foot-pounds of torque.<br /><br />The current owner of chassis number 784 has retained it for the last eight years. Over that period a great deal of time, effort and money have been expended to add substantial performance and value to this already impressive supercar. The owner opted to have a proper titanium exhaust system by Tom Walkinshaw Racing installed at a cost of nearly $20,000. An expert from Spain was flown in to install the exhaust as well as perform a major service on the engine. This included replacement of all belts, injector cleaning as well as recalibrating and updating of the computer software. The result of this work is an outstanding output of approximately 700 horsepower. The brakes and clutch have also been serviced.<br /><br />The XJ220S was painstakingly repainted to match the Lamborghini color of Reventon Gray, making this supercar even more intimidating in a very contemporary color. Furthermore the leather interior was completely refurbished, and Infiniti projector headlights were also added. The original magnesium wheels were also refurbished and fitted with brand new tires. Since the early 2000s the owner has added about 1,200 miles to the odometer and only precious few since the cosmetic and mechanical overhaul completed this past year. It has been shown and won accolades at SEMA and is followed by a loyal group of devotees. Most other examples of the rare XJ220S reside in museums or in vast car collections and as a result have attained a mythical status. These special Jaguars deliver style and performance that is truly on par with more contemporary supercars yet arguably remains the most undervalued member of the species.</i></span><p>

The 2013 Nissan GT-R goes on sale November 24 in Japan and arrives in European showrooms in January 2012.<br /><span class="fullpost"><br />The package includes revised suspension settings, extra brake cooling (front and rear), and aluminum-alloy wheels from the Spec-V made by Rays (with black quartz chrome color coating). The front spoiler with carbon air duct has been exclusively made for this edition and is installed as a set,and a host of interior upgrades like Novillo leather trim in black, with palladium silver accents, an Alcantara-covered M steering wheel, door sill finishers featuring an M3 checkered flag logo, and a handbrake lever with the M Power logo.<br /><br />The 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine in the 2013 GT-R now produced 545-hp, an increase of 15-hp over the 2012 GT-R, and torque has been pushed from 448 lb-ft to 463 lb-ft. The new model goes on sale November 24 in Japan and arrives in European showrooms in January 2012.<br /><br />At a glance:<br /><br /></i><ul><li><i>More power (550PS), improved economy and lower emissions </i></li><li><i>Unique asymmetric suspension settings on RHD cars</i></li><li><i>Enhanced transmission shift feel</i></li><li><i>Special race tuned oils used in differential</i></li><li><i>Body strengthened for even greater handling finesse</i></li><li><i>Ceramic brakes option according to model</i></li><li><i>New Bose® Precision Sound System woofers</i></li><li><i>Rear view camera now standard</i></li><li><i>New version ‘For TRACK PACK' enhances GT-R's pure performance (RHD only)</i></li></ul><i><br />Significant improvements to the engine, chassis and transmission, plus a new lightweight "For TRACK PACK" version (currently available in some market such as Japan, UK), which accentuates the pure performance potential of the GT-R are the key changes to Nissan's flagship model for the 2012 model year.<br /><br />When it was launched, the iconic GT-R created a new type of super car. Performance and handling were exceptional, of course, but more importantly the car's potential was accessible to all drivers under all conditions. It was greeted with universal praise but Nissan's policy of constant development means the GT-R continues to evolve.<br /><br />The latest version, which is due on sale in Europe in January 2012, is the most efficient yet. It offers even greater performance but this is allied to improved economy and lower emissions to provide further excitement to drivers and passengers.<br /><br />As well as more power, the 2012 MY GT-R has a newly developed asymmetric suspension which compensates for greater weight on the driver's side in RHD models, enhanced transmission ‘feel' and a stronger body for extra rigidity and ever better handling.<br /><br />There's also the arrival of a new "For TRACK PACK" version (currently available in some markets such as Japan, UK) which inherits the DNA of the Spec_V model and turns the GT-R into a light-weight two seater for the ultimate in trackday performance.<br /><br /><br /><b>2012 MY Nissan GT-R Overview</b><br /><br /><b>1. Mechanical Features</b><br /><br />Engine<br />By improving the GT-R's engine efficiency, its fuel economy has been decreased from 12L. to 11.8L/100 Kms, while engine output rises significantly from 390kW to 404kW (550PS) from /6,400rpm with maximum torque of from 612 to 632Nm(64.5kgfm) from 3,200 to 5,800 rpm.<br /><br />Engine response and torque at mid- and low-speeds, and power at high revolutions, has been significantly improved, mainly due to:<br /><br /></i><ul><li><i>Improved intake efficiency - Better air flow resistance, which has been reduced by the addition of an intake manifold fitted to the head of each unit and the use of resin in the enlarged air intake duct for the intercooler.</i></li></ul><ul><li><i>Improved exhaust emissions efficiency and enhanced control. Reduced air flow resistance thanks to a more compact under floor catalyzer which improves emissions efficiency and reduces weight. Improved exhaust valve cooling performance by the adoption of a newly-designed metallic sodium-filled valve. At the same time, valve control timing, the air mixture ratio and ignition timing have been improved.</i></li></ul><i><br /><b>Transmission</b><br />Shift feels and quietness has been refined thanks to a strengthened design of the shift fork arm and a firmer fixing bearing for the flywheel housing. A special differential oil R35 COMPETITION Type 2189E (75W140), which was developed for competition is now used in every version of GT-R.<br /><br /><b>Body</b><br />As well as greater power and torque, the reinforcing of certain areas around the rear part of the engine compartment and dash panel deliver more responsive handling while a greater sense of the vehicle's grip on the road is transmitted to the driver.<br /><br />At the same time, more precise production methods, accompanied by advancements made in the vehicle body, have improved the inter-vehicle detection capability. This was achieved by changes in the positioning of the sensor and more rigid, highly-damped vehicle body, and by adding a more accurate acceleration sensor in areas with higher sensitivity in the vibration testing of each vehicle body.<br /><br /><b>Suspension and brakes</b><br />Accounting for the added weight of the driver in a right-hand drive vehicle coupled to the fact that the propeller shaft for front wheels is located on the right side of the vehicle; the GT-R's suspension in RHD versions has been set asymmetrically. For the front suspension, there's a harder spring rate on the left side while at the rear the suspension arm has been installed upwards on the left side and downwards on the right. This means an imbalanced wheel load when the car is stationary, but which is equalized during driving, providing improved responsiveness, smoothness and steering feel, as well as enhanced cornering stability and riding comfort (for RHD only).<br /><br />NCCB (Nissan Carbon Ceramic Brakes) are available as a factory-installed option for the GT-R Premium Edition and EGOIST grade. These brakes accentuate the car's agile road hold and supple ride feel thanks to a dramatically-reduced spring weight and refined, sharp braking performance unique to carbon ceramics. (In addition, service parts prices for the rotors and pads have been reduced.)<br /><br /><b>2. Interior</b><br /><br />The quality feel of the instruments placed in front of the driver have been enhanced by the addition of blue lighting inside the tachometer ring to match the shift position indicator light giving a more sophisticated atmosphere in the cockpit.<br /><br />Rear View Camera device will be standard on all models.<br /><br />The Bose® sound system woofers, have been changed to Bose® Precision Sound System woofers that were developed for the EGOIST grade to further enhance sound quality.<br /><br /><br /><b>3. "For TRACK PACK" (currently available in some markets such as Japan, UK)</b><br /><br />"For TRACK PACK" (currently available in some markets such as Japan, UK) is a new version in the GT-R line up, designed for customers who want to enjoy a more visceral driving experience in their Nissan GT-R.<br /><br />Jointly developed with NordRing Company in Japan, it features revised suspension settings, extra brake cooling (front and rear), and aluminum-alloy wheels from Spec-V made by Rays (with black quartz chrome color coating). The front spoiler with carbon air duct has been exclusively made for this edition and is installed as a set.<br /><br />To reduce the car's weight, this edition is a two-seat configuration with quilted fabric mats in place of the rear seats. The front seats are covered with leather and high-grip fabric, newly developed for the "For TRACK PACK" version and which firmly holds the driver in place during even the most spirited of trackday action (RHD only).<br /><br />With the latest 2012MY version, the legend that is the Nissan GT-R continues to evolve.</i><br /></div></span><p>
