It seems Renault is playing catch up in the mini car segment and the French manufacturer has it’s sights set on outdoing the Fiat 500 on value by introducing a new version of its Twingo mini car in the UK, called the Twingo Extreme. The new model undercuts its Fiat counterpart by £400 at a base price of £7,500. The Extreme features Renaults 1.2 60hp petrol engine.

Renault also states that the new model beats one of it’s main rivals, the Citroen C2, when it comes to standard features. Safety features include ABS brakes with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and brake assist while convenience features such as Blue Tooth connectivity for hands-free telephone operation and a TunePoint connection point for MP3 players.

Not content with making the Twingo comparable only to the 500 and C2, the new Twingo also comes with an options list that includes Union Jack door handle graphics (£45) and wing badges (£15), as well as the option of having your Twingo Extreme with white or black racing stripes (£80) or chequered flag door graphics (£80), which sounds a lot like the type of accessories that Mini Cooper buyers would normally be interested in.
