Audi's RS 6 is king of the hill with a twin-turbo V10 making 580hp and BMW wants a piece of that action as spy photos of an alleged twin-turbo powered BMW M5 V10 engine, expected for its mid-cycle debut, indicate. However, tuning firms such as G-Power have already taken the liberty. Running just 0.5bar of boost pressure the bi-turbo system produces a staggering 730hp, a 50% increase over the standard 507hp. G-Power recently put the M5, dubbed Hurricane, to the test at the Nardo high speed test track in Italy and “only” achieved a premature top speed of 322 km/h (200 mph) due to an electrical fault compared to its potential 350 km/h (217 mph) according to G-Power engineers. G-Power is currently planning to increase boost pressure to 1.0 bar for an output of 800hp. Details to follow towards the end of the month.
